The Combining Latin Small Letter R (U+036C) is a nonspacing mark designed to render above a base character. Historically, it is used in Germanic linguistics and medieval manuscript transcription to indicate an “r-colored” vowel or as a shorthand superscript notation. It was added in Unicode 3.2 to the Combining Diacritical Marks block.

⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ʳ (U+02B3 Modifier Letter Small R) which is a standalone spacing character.
