The Arabic Shadda (U+0651) is a nonspacing diacritic (tashdid) used to mark consonant gemination or doubling. Technically, it is a Nonspacing Mark (NSM) with a Combining Class of 33 (Above), ensuring it sits correctly atop the base letter. It has been part of the Unicode standard since version 1.1.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ٌ (Dammatan) or the letter ‘w’ in stylized fonts.
