The Devanagari Letter Short O (ऒ) is a specialized independent vowel used primarily to represent the short vowel sound [o] in certain Dravidian and Southern Indic languages when transcribed into the Devanagari script. It is an “Other Letter” (Lo) in the Devanagari block, first standardized in Unicode version 1.1.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ओ (U+0913), which is the standard long “O”.
