The Devanagari Letter Pa (प) is a voiceless bilabial plosive consonant used in scripts for Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, and Nepali. Classified as an “Other Letter” (Lo), it belongs to the Devanagari block and was standardized in Unicode 1.1 (1993). It is fundamental to South Asian phonology and serves as the base for several ligatures.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ष (U+0937 – Devanagari Letter Ssa) which has a diagonal crossbar.
