ℹ️ About
The Devanagari Letter Lla (ळ) is a retroflex lateral approximant. While not used in standard Hindi, it is essential for Marathi, Konkani, and Vedic Sanskrit. It represents the “L” sound made with the tongue curled back against the roof of the mouth. This codepoint was introduced in Unicode 1.1 in 1993.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ऴ (U+0934 – Llla) which is used for the Dravidian “zh” sound in Devanagari transcription.
