The Canadian Syllabics Carrier Gwu (U+18ED) is a specialized character used in the Carrier (Dakelh) language of Western Canada. It belongs to the Unified Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics Extended block. This glyph represents the labialized velar consonant followed by the ‘u’ vowel sound. It was added to the Unicode standard in 2009 (Version 5.2) to support the precise phonetic requirements of the Dene/Athabaskan orthographies.
