ℹ️ About

The Cyrillic Capital Letter Io (Ё) is a foundational vowel in the Russian and Belarusian alphabets, representing the sound /jo/ or /o/ after a palatalized consonant. Technically, it is a composite character formed by the base letter Е (U+0415) and the Combining Diaeresis (U+0308). While often replaced by “Е” in casual Russian writing, it remains mandatory for dictionaries and educational texts.

⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with the Latin character Ë (U+00CB), which is used in French or Albanian and has a different encoding.
