The Combining Macron (U+0304) is a non-spacing diacritical mark used to signify long vowels in linguistics (macrons). It is widely used in Māori, Latvian, and for the Romanization of Japanese and Sanskrit. As a combining mark, it modifies the character typed immediately before it.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ¯ (U+00AF Macron) which is a spacing character.
