The Greek Small Letter Sigma (σ) is the 18th letter of the Greek alphabet. In modern science, it is the standard symbol for standard deviation in statistics and surface tension or stress in physics. Unlike the final sigma (ς), this form is used at the beginning or in the middle of words.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ς (U+03C2), the final form used only at the end of words.
