The Devanagari Letter Sha (श) is a voiceless palatal sibilant (/ʃ/). It is the first of the three distinct sibilants in the Devanagari script. Widely used in Sanskrit-derived vocabulary, it follows the semivowel ‘Va’ and precedes the retroflex ‘Ssa’ (ष) in the traditional abugida ordering.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ष (U+0937) or स (U+0938).
