The Left-Pointing Double Angle Quotation Mark (U+00AB), commonly known as a guillemet, is the standard opening quotation mark in French, Spanish, Russian, and many other European languages. In computer science, it is frequently used as a “chevron” in UI breadcrumbs or as an opening operator in specialized markup.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with << (Double Less-Than) or ‹ (U+2039 Single Angle Quotation).
