The Acute Accent (´) is a spacing modifier symbol within the Latin-1 Supplement block. Unlike combining diacritics, U+00B4 occupies its own horizontal space. It is technically a Modifier Symbol (Sk). Historically derived from the Greek oxeia, it is used in languages like Spanish, Portuguese, and French to indicate vowel quality, stress, or pitch.
