ℹ️ About
The Cyrillic Small Letter Hard Sign (ъ), known as the “tverdyi znak,” is a non-vocalized orthographic marker. Technically, it functions as a separator in languages like Russian and Bulgarian, preventing the palatalization of a preceding consonant when followed by a iotated vowel. In modern Russian, it is often found at the junction of a prefix and a root.
⚠️ Note: Do not confuse with ь (Small Soft Sign) or b (Latin ‘b’).
