The Cyrillic Small Letter Dze (ѕ) is a unique character used primarily in the Macedonian alphabet to represent the voiced alveolar affricate /dz/. While it visually resembles the Latin letter “s”, it is a distinct Cyrillic entity. It originates from the archaic Cyrillic letter “zelo” and remains a defining feature of Macedonian orthography today.
